Questions parents ask
If yours isn't here, WhatsApp us on 072 309 5646 — we'd rather answer it than have you guess.
Getting started
Does my child need any experience?
None at all. Most children arrive having never touched a pole or a hoop. Classes are grouped by age and coached by level within the group, so beginners are never left behind or pushed too fast.
What age can my child start?
From six years old. We run age bands at 6–8, 9–12 and 13–17, plus mixed-age classes for siblings or for children who sit between bands.
Is it safe?
Every element is spotted, and progressions only move on when a child has the strength to hold the previous one. Anel is a former gymnast and gymnastics coach with qualifications in Biokinetics and Sport Science, and classes are built around that background.
Can we try one class first?
Yes. A trial class is R150 and is the best way to see whether it clicks before committing to a package.
On the day
What should my child wear?
Shorts and a t-shirt or vest for pole; leggings or longer shorts for hoop. Bare feet, hair tied back, and no body lotion on class day — skin needs to grip. A water bottle is essential.
Can I stay and watch?
Parents are welcome for the first class so everyone settles. After that most children concentrate better without an audience, but you are never turned away.
How long is a class?
Sixty minutes, apart from the Routines Clinic which runs two hours.
Where are you?
Two studios: The Movement Sanctuary at 19 Azalea Road in Durbanville, and The Pole Project in Buchanan Square, Woodstock.
Bookings and payment
How do I pay?
You pay on the site when you book, through Yoco's secure online checkout (Yoco is South Africa's payment provider). Card details never touch our site.
What if we need to cancel?
Cancel free of charge up to twelve hours before the class, using the link in your confirmation email. If you paid with a package credit, the credit goes back on your account. Inside twelve hours, WhatsApp us and we will do what we can.
How do packages work?
Buy a package and it becomes class credits on your account straight away. When you book a class, choose "use my package" and there is nothing more to pay. Credits work at either studio and on any class your child's age fits.
Do credits expire?
Monthly package credits run for five weeks and term credits for ten, from the day you buy them. The exact date is on your receipt and on your booking page.
The class I want is full — what now?
Join the waitlist on that class. You will be messaged the moment a spot opens, and it happens more often than you would think.
Is paying online safe?
Yes. Payment is handled by Yoco on their own secure checkout — we never see or store your card or banking details. You will see Yoco's page when you pay, then come straight back to your confirmation.
Other
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes — an hour of coached aerial and then the party. Send an enquiry with the date and rough numbers.
Do you run holiday programmes?
Yes, a five-day holiday club over the school holidays, plus single-day aerial camps. Dates are confirmed a few weeks ahead.
Can my child compete?
Athletes who want to compete train routines in the Competition Class and the Routines Clinic. Anel has competed through IPSF, The Pole Factor, APAC and the PCS Arnold Classic, so there is a clear path if your child wants one.
